Chocolate Peanut Butter Banana Smoothie

IMG_0387.JPG

I’m not a big smoothie person (or a big banana person – sort of) but this recipe was shared in one of the cooking groups I’m a part of on Facebook and it sounded interesting enough to try. Regarding not liking bananas – it is not so much bananas themselves but things flavored like banana. Eating a banana or eating banana bread (or a variation) is fine. But banana chips, banana flavored candy, etc. not so much.

But anyway – ultimately this was not a hit in the house. The 4 year old thought it was good but the rest of us did not. And it wasn’t the banana. I don’t think. It just wasn’t a good taste combination for me. And I had an issue with the cinnamon on top. I put too much and my first drink, before I even got any smoothie, was inhaling and choking on the cinnamon. Not a great way to start out the experience.

Not to say that you wouldn’t like it but i don’t see this getting a repeat in our house.

1 cup plain Greek yogurt
1 tbsp dark cocoa powder
2 tbsp peanut butter or almond butter (I used peanut)
1 frozen, ripe to the point of rotten banana
A splash of almond milk (optional, I used a splash of whole milk)
3 or 4 ice cubes

Put everything in the blender and blend until smooth. Top with a dash or two of cinnamon.
